Hi Sparkle. Welcome in AFX.

Who or what are some of your greatest influences and how have they inspired your music career?

This is such a tough question. Almost anyone and anything can be a source of inspiration to me. But, as odd as it is, one of my biggest influences is the songs themselves. For as long as I can remember, my brain has looped songs. There is an internal push to get them out somehow. Some of the songs will loop until I make them into an actual song. “Bluebird” from my album is one of these types of “looping songs.” It kept visiting me. I would ignore it. It would go away, then, it would resurface! It was a very persistent song. Others are very transient. They’ll loop for a while, then, leave almost as suddenly as they appeared. When I was very young, they were simpler songs. As I’ve grown older, the songs have grown with me and have become more complicated songs. The songs themselves are definitely my biggest influence. Being in a choir at a young age and for so long definitely influenced my musical style. I really enjoy the layering of sounds in choral music and it’s something I love to do in my own music. I enjoy playing with sound vocally and electronically. I really enjoy the realm of electronic music, because of this. It’s an endless playground of possibilities. The EDM scene is so creative, open and accepting, too. When you are doing electronic music, no sound is off limits, almost anything can be made into an instrument of some kind. I really like the freedom of that. It inspires me immensely. I can still include traditional instruments, if I wish. But, the ability to be able to take any sound and use it musically is so exciting to me. Nature and fantasy both inspire my music a lot.

What’s your favourite part about being a artist/songwriter?

Getting to explore music and create. I love creating music and having an outlet for the songs. I also really enjoy the opportunity to work with all kinds of artists. It’s just pure fun.

Do any of your songs based on personal experiences? If so, can you tell me about one that’s particularly special to you?

All of my songs are based on personal experiences or dreams. The song “Bluebird,” in particular, is a song I associate with my mom who passed away. A day or so after my mom had passed away (in November), I was sitting in the parking lot of a neighborhood park. I was thinking about my mom, missing her, when I looked up and saw a flicker of blue near a tree. I looked more closely, there was a random, blue-colored bird all by itself just chillin’ amongst mourning doves, pigeons, and a few sparrows. This was a childhood, neighborhood park. My whole entire life I had never seen blue-colored bird in that park. There just aren’t birds like this there. It was bizarre. I felt it was a little hello from my mom. The experience stuck with me. Eventually, it attached to a song that kept looping in my brain, the following spring.

What has been the best performance of your career so far?

Oh wow. Such a tough question. I think it is yet to come! But, I know it will. The best is yet to come as they say…

What are your lifelong dreams?

My life long dream is just to live happily and make music. Maybe have a little cottage in the woods someday with my parrot. Traveling would be nice. Really creating another realm on stage would be magical and having the opportunity to share it with others.

Are you working on any new music or planning anything exciting that we can look forward to?

Oh yes! I have dozens of songs squirreled away. I’m not sure what to do with them yet. They are a pile of acorns for now. I have ones I’m currently working on too, which are unfinished. Every week, I’m in the studio with my producer working on something.

If you had one message to give to your fans, what would it be?

We all have a little sparkle. If you’ve stumbled across the music, it’s for a reason. It is there to remind you of your own sparkle inside. Believe in the sparkle inside you. You aren’t alone. The idea of aloneness and separateness in many ways is an illusion. If you have a dream in your heart don’t let go of it, it’s there for a reason. Don’t let people discourage you in this life. This is your life and you should try your best to live in a way that brings you happiness. Be kind to yourself and others. When someone or something is unkind to you, don’t let it take away your kindness. Make the conscious choice to continue to be a kind person and lead by example.

The release of "Battle Maiden" on October 2024, marks a significant milestone in Sparkle Glitch's musical career. Influenced by personal experiences of loss and healing, the EP delves into themes of spirituality, grief, and fantasy, with tracks like "Bluebird" serving as a poignant tribute to the artist's late mother.
