EINSAM "SOMETHING HAPPENED"

Einsam, the name for the solo project of Bristol-based artist Sam Jackson, released his latest track Something Happened. In this track, Einsam fuses post-punk sounds with leftfield pop grooves to write about philosophical themes through a lens of angular guitars and electronic textures. With a catchy chorus repeating “Little yes, little no,” the song is bound to brighten up a cold winter.

Focusing on the production, Something Happened can easily draw sound comparisons to Imagine Dragons, The 1975, and classic acts like Talking Heads and Depeche Mode. Built around layered loops, the track begins with minimalist elements that grow into a full-bodied sound. Guitar riffs go seamlessly with electronic textures and bouncing rhythms, creating a retro sound. Dom Mitchison’s production and mixing add polish, resulting in a track that is just as emotionally thoughtful as it is sonically compelling. Perhaps purposefully, the high energy of the arrangement mirrors the song’s themes of change.

Lyrically, the song features lines like “All my life I’ve been waiting for cementation,” embodying the transition from inertia to action.Through each lyric, Something Happened explores the small decisions that shape our lives, encapsulated in the refrain “Little yes, little no”. Jackson’s lyrics reflect on moments of indecision, tying the track’s bouncy rhythm to the sense of momentum created by choosing to act. For example, the previously mentioned lyric “All my life I’ve been waiting for cementation” speaks to the natural desire for stability while acknowledging the struggle to find it.

Fans of Einsam would be happy to learn that Something Happened is the third single from the debut album, “Actionism.” With more on the horizon, the releae encapsulates the ethos of Einsam: connecting profound themes with vibrant, danceable music, thus perfectly setting the tone for the “Actionism” album.
